James E. (Jim) Flowers

Jim was born April 13, 1939, in Montrose, Colorado, to Wayne E. And Nellie (Humphrey) Flowers. He attended school at the Kinikin School for first grade and then finished his elementary schooling at the Uncompahgre School. He graduated from Montrose High School with the class of 1957, was very active in FFA and served as secretary at the state level. The business was closed due to his failing health, and he then worked with the livestock auctions first in Salida, then Monte Vista, and finally Western Slope Cattlemen’s Livestock Auction at Loma, Colorado. Along with the farming and ranching, he also held periodic farm machinery auctions at his lot in Montrose. He had a large collection of antique and classic tractors and vehicles. He worked at a variety of jobs through the years and made many good friends. He loved his family – children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren – and enjoyed his auction career.
